The Range
Our range sits on approximately five acres just outside McMinnville. It is maintained year-round by member volunteers, and that pride of ownership shows.
What’s On Site
• Rifle range — 25, 50, 100, and 200-yard distances
• Pistol pits — 8-yard, handguns only
• Archery range
• Covered shooting benches and firing line
• Clubhouse and parking
Hours & Access
The range is open to members in good standing. Unless otherwise posted:
• Monday–Saturday (summer): 10:00 AM to sunset, 7:00 PM at the latest
• Monday–Saturday (winter): 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• Sundays and holidays: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Members enter with a personal gate code, sign in and out at the range log, and wear their YCSA member badge at all times. Shooting outside posted hours is not tolerated.
Guests
Members may bring up to two guests per outing. The member is wholly responsible for their guests’ safety and compliance with all range rules. Guests sign in, complete a guest agreement, and wear a guest badge while on the range.
Range Safety Rules
Safety is the first and last rule at YCSA. The NRA four basic rules of firearm safety apply at all times: treat all firearms as if they are always loaded; never aim the muzzle at anything you do not intend to shoot; keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target; and be sure of your target and what is behind it.
• No alcoholic beverages or mind-altering drugs — legal or prescribed — anywhere on the range or premises
• Eye and ear protection on before exiting your vehicle when shooters are present
• Permitted: pistols and revolvers, rimfire and centerfire rifles (no .50 BMG), muzzleloaders
• Not permitted: shotguns (slugs only at the 50 and 100-yard pits), full-auto fire of any kind, tracer or armor-piercing ammunition
• Paper targets only, placed on provided backstops; no metal or reactive targets without advance board approval
• Minors (17 and under) shoot only with one-on-one parent or guardian supervision
• 200-yard range: sight in at 100 yards first, close all shorter ranges while in use, 30-minute limit when others are waiting
• Police all brass — yes, .22 shells are brass — and take your trash and targets home
